Dia Doscientos Cuarenta y Ocho // Day Two Hundred & Forty-Eight

There is beauty in any natural landscape, you just have to know where to find it. Today I found the natural beauty at the top of Mt Ngungun located approximately 50 minutes north of Brisbane. Mt Ngungun is one of eleven ‘volcanic plugs’ that rise steeply above the landscape forming The Glasshouse Mountains. With a summit of 253 metres, Mt Ngungun is certainly not one of the highest peaks, however the panoramic views it provides at the top are simply worth it, due to the 360• views.

The Glasshouse Mountains were originally coined accordingly by Captain James Cook upon his discovery of the east coast of Australia. The peaks are said to have reminded him of the glass furnaces in his home county of Yorkshire, in England. I think it is amazing that these peaks were once home to volcanic activity not far from where many people now call home.
