I love a Friday as much as the next person, but a Friday evening spent watching the UCI World Track Cycling Championships is even better. I cannot wait for better weather as I just want to ride my bike, even if it’s to the shops and back. One thing I have never done though is ride on a velodrome track and after watching the World Championships throughout the week, I have decided that this year I will attempt to ride on a track. It looks so appealing to me, as unlike riding on the road, a track bike only has one gear and the pedals keep turning, providing the wheels keep rolling. There are opportunities to be involved in sprint races, highlighting the sheer strength and explosive power of the legs, however, there are also longer distance races that require more stamina and are frequented with tactical decisions to catch other riders off guard.
